About Laurence Bonfoey

Laurence BonfoeyMy name is Laurence Bonfoey and I was born and raised in Tucson, AZ.

My love of dance began in 1974 when a friend invited me to a Country Western Dance. Dancing grabbed my heart and never let go.

In 1975 I began working full time at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Tucson, achieving both my Bronze and Silver levels of Ballroom Dance. Soon after, I traveled across the United States as a Dance Instructor, including two years in Toledo, Ohio. In July of 1979 the beautiful desert, perfect weather, magnificent sunsets and Country Western Dance called me back to Tucson, my home.

Recognizing my passion for Dance, I wanted to share it with as many people as I could. Pima Community College gave me that opportunity for eighteen wonderful years. Students became lifelong friends, and many have continued to take additional classes with me over the years.

In 1992 The Bonfoey Studio of Fine Art and Dance opened with a fanfare! We enjoyed a staff of eight dance instructors who taught thirty-four classes a week. This was a busy and very rewarding time for me.

The memorable experiences I have had over the years prepared me for this time in my life specializing in Country Western Social Dance. I offer small group classes and private lessons year round at my convenient location in Oro Valley, AZ.

In 2010, an opportunity came along for me to start teaching group classes at the Maverick, Tucson’s oldest and most popular Country Western Night Club. I have been teaching dance classes every Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M for the last eight years. I personally invite you to

join us at the Maverick to polish your dancing skills, learn a new dance , and dance the night away to some of the best live music in Arizona.

In addition , you will find me at the Outlaw Saloon teaching Arizona Two Step from 6:30 P.M to 7:30 P.M on Tuesday nights.

Dance instruction has been a part of my life for over forty three years. Everyone can dance and enjoy the fun and confidence that it brings! The satisfaction I receive from helping people gain a sense of excitement as they progress in their dancing journey will keep me teaching Dance always!
